#25 - Francien Krieg

Tell us more about you..

My name is Francien Krieg I am a figurative painter from the Netherlands for more then 25 years now. I live in the middle of the countryside , married and have two boys , 11 and 5. I followed Monumental art on the art academy The Hague in the 90 ties, and after that I started painting. I always had the interest in the human body , my series : Precious bodies , is about the beauty of the ageing process , about the transience of life but also about the power and beauty of being vulnerable. Next to that I work on a series of self-portraits which started at the beginning of the pandemic since I could not work with older models any more, and this series is still growing. The third series I am working on is my series: Tribute to loved ones which is about my family life and the connection and love we have for each other.

How do you describe your NFT Art?

Since last year October I have been exploring the NFT world. Of course I heard about NTFs but thought that was for digital artists only, I discovered that there is also a place in the NFT space for traditional artists. The Tezos community have been very kind and warm to me. Since October I minted digitalised photos of my oil paintings on the blockchain. Twitter is the place to be , to make the connections with other artists, collectors and art lovers. To make that connection, and be very active is one of the most important parts of being an NFT artist I noticed. Be active in twitter spaces can help as well! Every artist in the space has their own approach, there is not just one way. It has to fit with who you are as a person. My minted NFTs on the blockchain consist of different series of works, from my series about the ageing women, my family portraits , my self-portraits, my NFT collaborations which have been amazing as well to do! Beside that some small experiments here and there in different techniques. Also I am working under an Alias called Franca. Those oil paintings I make as technical studies and these works have been embraced by the NFT community as well! Next to that I recently started to explore the AI art and working on different series for that as well. All these works are connected in my eyes. The red line is always the fragility of life, the beauty of being vulnerable .

Why did you choose this piece to show us?

Final Journey . One of my favorite pieces minted on the blockchain. I love the message in this work, in my own personal journey to try to find a way to accept that life is ending one day and to come to peace with that fact. But also about they journey of life, and how important it is to realise your own mortality to be able to enjoy life even more because of that fact.

Can you leave a message to collectors and other artists that are willing to connect with you?

Thank you to all people who follow me and support my artistic journey, please feel free to reach out to me , I love to make new friends in the community ! I also have a website were you can find all the series I work in (See Link below)
