#27 - Qotonana

Tell us more about you.

I’m an electronic engineer by education but have always had a never-ending urge to create stuff lead me to a graphic design and Art Director career. If I think more about it, it’s almost like the time when I don’t draw, program, design, animate, compose or just solve technical problems makes me unsettling and nervous. The engineering mind always asks for challenges and I also pursued a brief Indie Game Dev Career. Using code for creating art or even if we call it “just nice looking things”, while often challenging, is the ultimate fun for me. I haven’t written a single line of code for 7 years but discovering fxhash and generative art scene lightened again that youthful spark in me. Not just coding, not just creating, but the whole feeling that I’m taking part in something as “game-changing” as fxhash meant there was no turning back.

How do you describe your NFT Art?

As ever-evolving, experimenting but growing in style and story with every new release. Qotonana doesn’t have that particular style or theme that characterises some of the greatest artists in NFT space, but that kind of success (if it’s ever come :) ) can probably become a kind of limitation to artists as there are exceptions in style and theme to be met. Still enjoying total freedom and really don’t know what the next project will bring.

Why did you choose this piece to show us?

Art as music and design, should not only be “nice” but speak. Odyssey is a project that finally got that “universal acclaim”, at least in this small fxhash community, from collectors artists and curators. Let it speak as my journey through times and spaces of creating generative art. And hopefully, others will find their/ our own stories it can tell.

Can you leave a message to collectors and other artists that are willing to connect with you?

We all have daily obstacles but the amount of positive energy in NFT space and fxhash community especially is incredible and it just keeps you going. Connecting with artists and collectors from around the world and hearing their appreciation, support and of course critique is an incredible thing. After all, this is how this #shillinterview came to life.
